Delphi Names Robert Morgan to Lean Business Processes

Delphi Corp. has named Robert Morgan as executive-in-charge of lean business processes, effective July 1. He will report to Donald Runkle, Delphi's vice chairman and chief technology officer.

TROY, MI — Delphi Corp. has named Robert Morgan as executive-in-charge of lean business processes, effective July 1. He will report to Donald Runkle, Delphi’s vice chairman and chief technology officer.

Morgan will work with Delphi’s senior leadership to map Delphi’s many business processes, identify and eliminate waste in these processes, find common methods and synergies across functions and apply lean principles to streamline Delphi’s business processes. Morgan will accelerate Delphi’s lean efforts across the entire enterprise, a logical progression from deployment of lean principles in Delphi’s manufacturing and supply base.

Most recently, Morgan was director, lean operations, Delphi Thermal and Interior, and previously served as the manufacturing director for Delphi Harrison. He is an expert in lean principles, with extensive experience in general management and leading many manufacturing organizations during his career. Prior to joining Delphi, Morgan, a 15-year veteran of TRW Inc., was vice president and general manager of the company’s Rack & Pinion division, headquartered in Tennessee. In addition, he held a number of assignments within TRW Steering Systems Ltd., including managing director, director of operations, director of purchasing, director of finance, and director, satellite operations. Before joining TRW, he spent six years with Hawker- Siddeley, a U.K.-based manufacturer of diesel engines.

For the remainder of 2004, he also will continue to report to Ronald M. Pirtle, president, Delphi Thermal & Interior and vice president, Delphi Corp., while completing his present assignment.
