HART COUNTY, GA — TI Automotive is investing $30 million to build a new 145,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Hart County, Ga. The facility will produce automotive fuel-tank systems, including blow-molded plastic fuel tanks and filler pipes for vehicles built in nearby southern states by BMW and an Asia-based automaker.

The new plant, which will initially employ 100 people, is expected to produce 350,000 automotive fuel-tank systems annually.

The company will begin hiring in March 2005 with a majority of new employees being hired from the Hart County region. The State of Georgia is offering TI Automotive incentives including state job tax credits totaling $3,000 per employee per year during the facility’s first five years of operation. TI Automotive can spread out the state income tax credits over a 10-year period.

New employees will be trained for many of the facility’s high-tech operations through the state’s Quick Start program at North Georgia Technical College.

The company said it expects to reach full production of fuel-system components for the two automakers in 2006.
