ELGIN, IL — Chicago Rawhide (CR)/SKF has made a $3,000 donation to the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarship fund. The money is specifically earmarked for special circumstance applicants and will be part of the scholarship fund pool distributed next year to applicants for the annual aftermarket educational support effort by the GAAS Committee.

Bill Diggory, vice president and general manager of CR/SKF’s aftermarket business unit, made the announcement. “We are pleased to be able to support the most successful scholarship effort in aftermarket history,” said Diggory. “We hope that other companies will provide this kind of extra support to supplement funds generated by the Symposium every year. Since its inception, the GAAS effort has resulted in nearly $1 million in undergraduate and vocational student aid.”

In a separate effort, Diggory announced that the company has donated 50 copies of Pete Kornafel’s new book “Inventory Management and Purchasing – Tales from the Automotive Aftermarket” to the undergraduate Aftermarket Management studies program at Northwood University in Midland, Mich.

“Both Pete’s book and the aftermarket programs at Northwood are one-of-a-kind,” said Diggory. “The Northwood courses represent the only place students can get a real world perspective on the heavy-duty truck parts and automotive aftermarkets. We are pleased to provide Northwood with the most on-point material ever published on a critical industry issue.”
