RACINE, WI — Modine announced that its CIO Carlton “Butch” Harper, Jr., has been named one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders. The list honors individuals who have had a positive impact on their organizations through technology. They are men and women who manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate with interesting challenges and positive work environments, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies.

“I am honored to be named to the Premier 100 list,” said Harper, who’s been at Modine for nine years, with global responsibility for Modine’s information technology and services in 18 countries in North America, Europe, South America and Asia,” said Harper. “Information technology has truly become a strategic enabler for business success and differentiation in today’s global, highly-competitive marketplace. The IT executive enjoys the position as the leader and chief strategist for his/her team to ensure that IT provides what the business needs to be successful. This success is highly dependent on a true partnership with the business executives to ensure critical alignment. It was a pleasure to be involved with Computerworld’s assessment process and to now be involved with such a diverse mix of IT executives across a broad spectrum of industries, all of whom are focused in their own way on this same objective.”

Before Modine, Harper worked at Tenneco for almost 14 years, where he held a variety of positions within two different divisions, Newport News Shipbuilding and Tenneco Automotive. This followed eight years that Harper worked as a U.S. Naval Officer (Supply Corps), where his responsibilities included various management and technical assignments within a variety of disciplines — information technology, marketing, finance and materials management. Harper’s educational achievements include earning a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1975 and a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1981.
