SUZHOU, China — Warren, OH-based Stoneridge has established a new subsidiary and manufacturing operation in Suzhou, China. Stoneridge manufactures electrical and electronic components, modules and systems for the automotive, medium and heavy-duty truck, agricultural and off-highway vehicle markets.

The new subsidiary, Stoneridge Asia Pacific Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., will focus on the design and manufacture of sensors, switches, electronic instrumentation and other related electro-mechanical products for the automotive and commercial vehicle markets. Production will begin in the third quarter.

“This represents our first major step in establishing full operating capability in the region to enhance our support of rapidly growing markets in China and the Asia Pacific,” said Gerald Pisani, vice chairman. “For many years, we have supported our customers in these areas by exporting from Stoneridge’s operations in North America and Europe. Now we will be better able to respond to customer needs, broaden our customer base, and focus on the significant growth opportunities in the region. This operation will not only bring about increased opportunities for us in China, but also allow us to improve our competitive position in other markets outside of China.”

In addition to the new operation in Suzhou, the company’s Asia Pacific presence includes a joint venture in India and technical sales offices in Shanghai, China; Yokohama, Japan; and Seoul, Korea.
