KANSAS CITY, MO — Sterling Bearing, Inc., a wholesale distributor of internal engine parts for passenger, performance, agricultural, truck and heavy-duty applications, will celebrate its 70th year in business this April. Sterling Bearing is a charter member of the Engine Parts Group, Inc. (EPG), a buying and marketing group of internal engine parts distributor specialists operating 32 warehouses nationally.

Founded in 1936, primarily as a supplier of rebabbitted connecting rods, Sterling was purchased in 1976 by Tom and Barbara Winkler. Today, the company provides excellent order-fill and same-day shipping to custom and higher-volume engine rebuilders in nine Midwestern states from its two distribution locations in Kansas City, MO, and Minneapolis, MN.

Nationally recognized for creating Blockmaster Engine Kits, Sterling Bearing combines a complete product line of major brands of internal engine parts allowing its customers to design “custom kit programs” as required. Sterling also carries a remanufactured parts line that includes: crankshafts, cylinder heads and connecting rods. Sterling Bearing’s unique distribution mix of proprietary products under the Blockmaster and Engine Pro brands, as well as national brands, has resulted in 350 percent growth since 1996, according to the company.

“Sterling Bearing is primed for future growth,” said Steve Rich, Sterling’s chief operating officer. “Our warehouses are stocked with most major brands of internal engine parts for domestic and import engines, including high performance. As an EPG member distributor we are also able to offer group buying incentives, business assistance programs and professionally created marketing programs. These programs include the Engine Pro Protection Plan, a three-year engine warranty, our Parts Finder Program which allows the engine rebuilder to locate hard-to-get engine parts and an affiliation with the oldest sanctioning racing body in the country – IMCA – to our customers. Our goal is simple, says Rich. “If it has to do with engines, we’ll be able to help.”
