Snap-on Diagnostics Introduces New ETHOS Handheld Scan Tool

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Snap-on Diagnostics has introduced a new product called ETHOS, a new upgradeable handheld scan tool that the company describes as “powerful and affordable.”

The ETHOS Deluxe kit features software that communicates with vehicles back to 1980, covering manufacturer specific codes and data for systems, from engine and transmission to ABS, airbag and more. The software’s user interface makes it easy for technicians to read and clear manufacturer specific trouble codes, graph live readings for multiple data parameters, print, record and save data for review, and connect to a PC to save and review files.

ETHOS features software in English and Spanish, a 4.7” monochrome display, a detachable faceplate, auto power with vehicle connection and long battery life, global OBD software with adapter, USB ports/CompactFlash memory expansion slot, a vehicle power indicator, a printed “getting started” manual, training DVD and operating software manuals on CD.

Snap-on Diagnostics also offers the ETHOS Standard Kit for an upgradeable, OBD-II only tool.

“Technicians know they need fast access to a growing number of systems to work on today’s cars,” said Gerry Beronja, director, global marketing – Snap-on Diagnostics. “But too many affordable handhelds don’t offer the advanced functions and upgrade capabilities they need to make their investment worthwhile. With the new ETHOS handheld, that’s all changed. We give technicians the information they need to diagnose and repair today’s complex vehicles and the expansion and upgrade capacity to handle tomorrow’s vehicles, too.”
