MEMA and Gemini Shippers Sign Strategic Partnership

MEMA and Gemini Shippers Sign Strategic Partnership

Access to Gemini Shippers Association is expected to increase purchasing power with ocean shippers for MEMA's OE and aftermarket members.

MEMA, The Vehicle Suppliers Association, and Gemini Shippers Association have formed a strategic partnership to provide enhanced international transportation procurement services to the automotive OEM and aftermarket supplier industries. This collaboration combines over 200 years of expertise from both organizations, MEMA said.

As part of this partnership, MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers and MEMA Original Equipment Suppliers members will gain exclusive, cost-free access to Gemini Shippers Association. This access is expected to increase their purchasing power with ocean shippers. Gemini Shippers Association, by pooling its members, offers better pricing per container for shipping needs, providing suppliers with more flexible pricing options and no obligation to commit to any specific option. Additionally, members opting for Gemini’s services will benefit from real-time tracking and tracing information for ocean and rail shipments, enhancing visibility into their shipping processes, MEMA said.

Ben Brucato, vice president of membership & engagement at MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers, emphasized the competitive advantage this collaboration offers in ocean shipping. He highlighted the synergy between MEMA and Gemini Shippers members in maximizing leverage as a key advantage of their association.

Ken O’Brien, president and CEO of Gemini Shippers Association, expressed excitement about the partnership, recognizing it as a significant achievement in collaboration. He noted Gemini’s expertise in ocean transportation and the value of working with MEMA’s exclusive membership and its strong presence in the automotive sector.

The partnership also includes Gemini Shippers Association’s sponsorship of the MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers Supply Chain & Operations (SCO) Forum. This forum serves as a platform for members to learn about and discuss various challenges, including procurement of materials and components, logistics, labor, packaging, warehousing robotics and more.
