Daimler Appoints Eva Scherer to CFO

Scherer joins Daimler Truck from Siemens AG, where she served as executive vice president and global head of investor relations.

Daimler Truck Holding AG announced the appointment of Eva Scherer as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective April 1, 2024. Scherer’s term, set for three years, extends until March 31, 2027, and she will oversee finance and controlling within the company.

Joe Kaeser, chairman of Daimler Truck’s supervisory board, addressed the urgency of the appointment due to the unexpected vacancy. “The position of CFO has tragically become vacant. Following an intensive selection process, the supervisory board has now filled the position,” Kaeser said. He emphasized the board’s focus on attributes like open-mindedness, diversity, potential and enthusiasm for change, praising Scherer for demonstrating these qualities.

Michael Brecht, deputy chairman of the supervisory board and chairman of the General Works Council, highlighted Scherer’s team-oriented approach as a key factor in her appointment. “We need this attitude at Daimler Truck because we can only master the historic transformation of our industry if management and employee representatives work together in trust,” Brecht said, welcoming Scherer on behalf of the General Works Council.

Martin Daum, chairman of Daimler Truck’s Board of Management, welcomed Scherer, acknowledging her extensive financial experience in a large corporate group in a similar industry. “With her broad financial experience, she can provide important impulses that will benefit Daimler Truck on its path of transformation,” Daum said.

Scherer joins Daimler Truck from Siemens AG, where she served as executive vice president and global head of investor relations. Her career began in 2003 as a trainee at Siemens AG, followed by various management positions in purchasing and finance and controlling in Germany and Switzerland. Scherer’s experience includes roles in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, and she has been a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum since 2019.

The position of CFO at Daimler Truck was previously held by Jochen Goetz, who passed away unexpectedly in August 2023. Since then, Daum had assumed the role on an interim basis.

The supervisory board’s decisions regarding Scherer’s appointment apply equally to Daimler Truck Holding AG and Daimler Truck AG, the company said.
