Michelin and Rockwell Automation, Inc. have expanded their partnership to focus more on digital innovation in Michelin’s manufacturing processes. The partnership, which has spanned over thirty years, will now concentrate on modernizing Michelin’s manufacturing equipment through digitalization. This includes the integration of advanced analytics and data science tools at both operational and plant levels. The collaboration will also involve Kalypso, a business under Rockwell Automation, aiming to improve operational reliability and efficiency with digital solutions.
Frank Kulaszewicz, senior vice president at Rockwell Automation, emphasized the importance of this advancement. “This new step is a testament to our evolving relationship with Michelin,” he said. “We are eager to build on our historical collaboration, leveraging our combined strengths to face future industrial challenges and drive forward digital innovation. It marks a new chapter in our journey, deepening our commitment to Michelin’s digital transformation in machine automation, and solidifying the mutual trust between our companies.”
The collaboration will cover various aspects of digital transformation, including joint efforts in prototyping and testing. These efforts aim to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of new ideas and improve the efficiency of R&D initiatives, Rockwell Automation said.
Nicolas Jaunet, manufacturing engineering vice president at Michelin, highlighted the benefits of this enhanced collaboration. “Our strengthened commitment allows us to fast-track our digitalization strategies through this sustainable innovation collaboration,” he said. “Our combined expertise will accelerate our manufacturing to scale up innovation through smart technology while creating greater people skills and a more attractive work environment.”
