Tire Industry Association Forms NEXGEN Advisory Council

The council's objective is to draw, develop and engage both new and established industry professionals, TIA said.

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has established the NEXGEN Advisory Council, aiming to cater to young professionals and the next generation of tire industry leaders.

The council’s objective is to draw, develop, and engage both new and established industry professionals, according to TIA CEO Richard “Dick” Gust. The NEXGEN Advisory Council convened for its inaugural meeting on August 9, where it set forth its goals and planned actions, TIA said.

Council members include:

  • Chris Rhoades, vice president of BKT Tires, Copley, Ohio
  • Debra Hamlin, board secretary and director of operations, Bridgestone Commercial Dealer Network, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, Nashville, Tenn.
  • T.J. Trum, incoming board treasurer and general counsel for Pomp’s Tire Service, Kansas City, Kan.
  • Leigh-Ann Stewart, co-founder of Simply Safe, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada
  • Brandy Sielaff, Business First Solutions, Meridian, Idaho
  • Richard “Dick” Gust, CEO of TIA
  • Roy Littlefield IV, vice president of government affairs (staff liaison) at TIA

TIA said the council anticipates expanding its roster with individuals outside of the board to contribute further expertise.

The idea for this council surfaced during TIA’s mid-year board meeting in June. CEO Richard “Dick” Gust emphasized the importance of engaging the upcoming generation in the tire sector and suggested that the council’s objectives should align with its overarching mission.

Among the goals established are:

  • Encouraging younger workers to join the industry and promoting awareness of career paths and mentorship opportunities.
  • Investigating new trends and maintaining technological advancement.
  • Effectively communicating the career, opportunity, and growth prospects available within the tire industry.

The NEXGEN Council plans to hold monthly sessions to ensure continuous advancement.
