TBC Corp Names Senior VP, General Manager for Big O Tires

Gary Skidmore will be responsible for driving value and creating new opportunities for the Big O brand.

TBC Corporation announced that Gary Skidmore has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager for its Big O Tires franchise business, succeeding Brian Maciak. In his new role, Skidmore will continue to focus on driving value and creating new opportunities for the Big O brand.

Skidmore started his career in the automotive industry nearly 38 years ago, as a tire changer, in a Big O store his family owned. Skidmore is a second generation in the Big O Tires franchisee family, and his father, Bill Skidmore, is a member of the Big O Tires Hall of Fame. Skidmore has been with TBC Corporation for 20 years in various leadership roles, and most recently served as Divisional Vice President, Big O Tires East. Skidmore’s storied history and vast experience in the organization position him perfectly to take the Big O Tires brand to the next level, the company notes.

“Gary’s collaborative leadership style, and extensive and considerable knowledge of our franchisees and business experiences in the field, will help ensure further growth and success of Big O Tires,” said Sam Kato, president and CEO, TBC. “TBC, as a franchisor, is committed to keeping Big O franchisees moving on the road ahead, as Big O Tires is an indispensable part of TBC’s sustainable growth strategy.”

Founded in 1962, Big O Tires has more than 470 stores in the Western and Midwestern regions of the United States. In 2023, Big O Tires was named an Entrepreneur Top 500 Franchise, and the number one Wheels & Tires franchise brand.
