MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers Creates Heavy Duty eCommerce Committee

MEMA Creates Heavy-Duty eCommerce Committee

New committee will advance use of data standards and best practices in the heavy-duty aftermarket.

MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers — part of MEMA, The Vehicle Suppliers Association — recently announced a new committee to further advance heavy-duty e-commerce. The Heavy Duty eCommerce Committee (HDeC) is a new forum within the association’s Business Technology Council (BTC).

“The expansion of the BTC is another example of how MEMA is better leveraging the association’s broad reach and depth to give our members greater access to programming that was once held within one of our divisions,” said Collin Shaw, chief commercial vehicle officer, MEMA.

The purpose of the HDeC is to advance the heavy-duty aftermarket by advocating, educating, and sharing ideas, industry best practices and data standards to drive e-commerce and overall business. The committee and its mission align with the membership and objectives of the long-standing, industry-leading BTC and provides even greater content and resources to heavy-duty suppliers.

“The HDeC makes all the sense in the world,” said Chris Gardner, senior vice president, Programs & Technology, MEMA. “MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers’ new alignment encompasses and addresses the needs of the heavy-duty vehicle supplier community, and the BTC is the home for all business technology content and initiatives.”

Pricedex Software will chair the new committee. It has an extensive history working on industry data standards, heavy-duty product information applications and association activities.

“We are exceptionally proud to have been asked to organize and chair the new committee,” said Terence O’Reilly, president and CEO, Pricedex Software. “The mandate is to bring hands-on thought leadership and knowledge exchange to assist and support heavy-duty aftermarket suppliers in utilizing e-Commerce data, practices and methods to meet new and evolving market demands, while becoming more efficient and profitable. We genuinely believe this mandate is truly timely, meaningful, and worthwhile, and we will strive to bring those benefits to HD aftermarket suppliers.”

The committee structure provides for seats for BTC Executive Committee members, BTC supplier members, a BTC affiliate member and non-voting individuals from industry organizations.

The HDeC will meet, present and engage in roundtable discussions during many of the industry’s key events.
