Rostra Expands Applications of Tailgate Camera Product Line

Most notably is the upcoming tailgate camera relocation system for the 2021 Ford F-150, a vehicle that requires a custom camera relocation housing, which is exclusive to Rostra.

VSM-Rostra LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VOXX Automotive Corp., announced it has expanded its vehicle application listing for the company’s Tailgate Camera Relocation product line allowing for the retention of OE backup camera functionality on today’s most popular trucks from Ford, General Motors, Nissan, RAM, and Toyota, when the vehicle’s bed or tailgate have been removed. Most notably is the upcoming tailgate camera relocation system for the 2021 Ford F-150, a vehicle that requires a custom camera relocation housing which was designed, engineered, and is exclusive to Rostra.

Service bodies, hatchback/walk-in door bed caps, tire carriers, and a myriad of other aftermarket equipment have the potential to obscure an OEM backup camera on a tailgate or require its removal from a truck altogether. More importantly upfitters often times need to add a backup camera to a cab and chassis to comply with FMVSS111 federal standards. Rostra’s RearSight camera relocation systems allow for this important safety equipment to be retained or added to a vehicle after even if it didn’t get one on the assembly line, the company says.

“Federal guidelines, like FMVSS111, set new standards for rear visibility and Rostra being not only the leader but originator of these products allows upfitters to offer complete solutions to their clients, in turn keeping their vehicles as well as personnel safe and on the road,” said Aron Demers, senior vice president, VOXX Electronics Corporation.

Rostra, the first company to introduce tailgate camera relocation technology to the aftermarket, specializes in wire harness and add-on camera development for both analog and more modern LVDS based camera systems featuring OEM-spec connectors, a variety of heavy-duty cameras, and custom surface-mount housings all designed and engineered in the U.S. This commitment to perfection mixed with the company’s acquisition by VOXX Automotive Corporation in 2020 strengthens Rostra and uniquely positions them to continue leading the category by developing additional innovative systems while keeping a keen eyeon stringent quality control and on-time delivery.

In addition to expanding the product line, Rostra says it is revamping its vehicle look-up tool, available at rostra.com, which now includes links to the more than 30 available tailgate camera relocation systems. With this expansion comes, updated installation instructions and video installation tutorials that one can filter by a vehicle’s year, make, and model.
