On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Jeffery Weaver, treasurer of Walker Products Inc., received a plaque of recognition from the members of the Automotive Sales Council (ASC), for coming to the aid of an ASC member in need.
Early in the pandemic, before COVID had taken hold in the United States, Tom Muldowney, an ASC member living in Hong Kong sent an email to the ASC members warning them of the developing COVID-19 threat. In his email, he commented that he was having difficulty finding enough personal protective equipment (PPE) for he and his aftermarket employees, located in Hong Kong.
Hearing of Muldowney’s issue and with COVID not yet a big issue in the U.S., PPE was still readily available here. So, Weaver and the Walker Products folks purchased and shipped PPE to Muldowney in Hong Kong — enough for he and all his employees.
An interesting note is that Weaver is not a member of the Automotive Sales Council, but heard of Muldowney’s dilemma from his father Michael, who has been an ASC member since 2005.
This action by Jeffery Weaver, who had never met Tom Muldowney, was totally unsolicited and done simply as a humanitarian effort.
When the members of the Automotive Sales Council learned of Weaver’s actions, they felt that recognition of his humanitarian action should be recognized by the members of the Automotive Sales Council at the Walker booth during AAPEX.
