Auto Care Expands Demand Index Data Analysis Tool

New product groups have been added.

The Auto Care Association has announced the addition of new product groups to its Demand Index tool on the TrendLens interactive data platform. The Demand Index tool enables subscribing automotive aftermarket manufacturers to know how their products are performing against the market. The Demand Index is the only tool in the auto care industry that provides hard part and other parts performance data from point of sales transactions.

The expansion of the Demand Index’s new product groups includes:

  • Batteries (Automotive, Powersport, Lawn & Garden, HD, and Marine);
  • Belt Tensioners and Idler Pulleys;
  • Brake Boosters;
  • CV Axles;
  • Fluids (HDMO, Coolant & Antifreeze, Hydraulics, ATF, DEF);
  • Master Cylinders; and
  • Spark Plugs.

Now with more than 50 available product groups and the most comprehensive panel of data providers in the aftermarket, including commercial and retail sales data, the Demand Index is proving to be a critical asset for businesses during line reviews. “The Auto Care Demand Index provides us with directional insights and a look into the health of our part categories while allowing complete anonymity and confidentiality of all members,” said one Demand Index user from a large automotive electrical parts manufacturer.

Demand Index users can instantly compare their product performance data with the tool’s “Economic and Industry Indicators” feature and can identify changes in driving behavior using the newly-added Arity Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) data provided eight weeks faster than the U.S. Department of Transportation’s VMT data. Beginning Feb. 15, 2021, Arity Vehicle Miles Traveled data will be accessible on a weekly basis to all Auto Care Association members at no charge during the “Market View” 60-day trial period.

The turbulence of 2020 created uncertainty for everyone—including aftermarket businesses. The Auto Care Association’s Demand Index minimizes uncertainty and maximizes clarity for businesses by equipping them with the data they need to make informed decisions with confidence.

Visit the Demand Index webpage at autocare.org/demandindex to view the complete list of available product groups, hear what current Demand Index users are saying about the tool, schedule a product demo and more.

Arity is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation. Mileage is calculated based on anonymized and aggregated data collected from 23 million active connections from multiple third-party sources, including consumer apps, insurance telematics mobile and device programs.
