Transtar Increases Inventory Turns, Attains Service Level Objectives

Transtar Makes Inventory, Service Level Upgrades

Company utilizes Thrive Technologies Inventory Optimization System to foster improvements.

Transtar Industries, the Cleveland-based global leader in transmission and drivetrain-related solutions, has selected and successfully implemented Thrive Technologies inventory optimization system to reduce inventory and achieve service level targets. The addition of Thrive’s system to its business operations has provided Transtar leadership with the ability to seamlessly establish inventory policies to support their goals, then measure their inventory performance and profitability.

“We needed a system that would help our analyst and buying teams drive out excess inventory, while ensuring we’re still able to provide exceptional service to each client,” said Transtar Vice President of Supply Chain Kevin Rozsa. “Thrive has been an excellent partner and instrumental in helping us achieve our objectives.”

Transtar now utilizes Thrive’s cloud-based multi-tier inventory optimization for its three distribution centers and more than 65 branches. The company was seeking assistance beyond typical forecasting and replenishment, also needing the capability to effectively manage an increasing number and complexity of kit assemblies; manage long and varied import and vendor lead times; provide leadership with the ability to control service level factors across all locations with different vendor targets, products and categories to better serve customer needs; and improve vendor performance via forecast collaboration and vendor scorecards.

“Our inventory analysts found Thrive’s system easy to use and it provided them with the added functionality they needed,” said Transtar Director of Inventory Chris Trevino. “Thrive helped us react quickly to develop and successfully execute an inventory strategy to deal with the adverse effects of COVID-19 on our business, for which we are truly grateful. They worked hand-in-hand with our staff and have become a trusted supply chain partner.”

Transtar set aggressive inventory target goals, which they are achieving due to Thrive’s system. This includes increasing turns by more than 20 percent and counting, consistently meeting corporate service level goals and using Thrive’s optimization analytics for increased company profit.
