Finalists Selected For 2019 SEMA-NACAT Education Award

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) have selected three finalists for the SEMA-NACAT Education Award. Now in its fourth year, the award recognizes and celebrates automotive technology instructors who incorporate the aftermarket into their curriculum. The award is open to any high school or post-secondary automotive, diesel or collision instructor in the United States or Canada. 

The top three applicants are selected as finalists and receive complimentary airfare and hotel to attend the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they will be recognized at the SEMA Education Partners Breakfast on Nov. 6. 

The 2019 SEMA-NACAT Education Award finalists are:

  • Paul Katson – Mira Costa College, Oceanside, California;
  • Roxanne Amiot – Bullard-Havens Technical High School, Bridgeport, Connecticut; and 
  • Russ Bacarella – Cypress College, Cypress, California 

During the Nov. 6 event, from among these three finalists, the overall winner will be announced. The overall winner for the 2019 SEMA-NACAT Education Award will receive complimentary registration and $500 toward travel to attend the 2020 NACAT Conference and Expo, one of the premiere update training events for automotive instructors in North America. The 2020 NACAT Conference and Expo will be held July 20-23 in Cincinnati, Ohio/Northern Kentucky.
