PPG Appoints James Jones As Vice President, Procurement

Reporting directly to Rebecca Liebert, senior vice president, automotive coatings, Jones will be responsible for leading PPG’s global procurement team, processes and strategy.

PPG announced the appointment of James T. (JT) Jones as vice president, procurement.

PPG has appointed James T. (JT) Jones as vice president, procurement, effective July 1. Reporting directly to Rebecca Liebert, senior vice president, automotive coatings, Jones will be responsible for leading PPG’s global procurement team, processes and strategy. He also will be tasked with optimizing the organization’s worldwide supplier base of purchased raw materials, goods and services spanning numerous categories and regions.

Jones joins PPG from Celanese, a global chemical and specialty materials company, where he was vice president, global raw material procurement. In that role, Jones aligned the procurement team and processes to more closely match each of the businesses go-to-market models and growth strategies. In addition, he led a global cost-savings initiative that exceeded productivity targets by more than 35%. 

Prior to that role, Jones held multiple leadership roles in global profit & loss (P&L) management, including Celanese’s global Acetic Acid business line, and business development and investor relations at Celanese. He also previously worked for Accenture as a senior manager, strategy and business architecture; Hercules, where he held roles of increasing responsibility in sales and sales leadership; and International Paper Corporation, where he began his career in sales.

Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University.
