Battery Systems Inc. Acquires Exide’s Branch Network Business

The deal makes BSI the exclusive distributor of Exide-branded transportation batteries for the aftermarket in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

Exide Technologieshas announced that Battery Systems, Inc. (BSI) will acquire its transportation branch network business, which serves the aftermarket in the United States and Canada. The deal makes BSI the exclusive distributor of Exide-branded transportation batteries for the aftermarket in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

According to Exide, the agreement enables both companies to focus on core competencies, prepare for future growth and better serve customers. “This new relationship will strengthen the Exide brand in the aftermarket and will benefit our customers as well as our employees that support the Branch operations. Our customers will now have access to BSI’s newly expanded distribution footprint of 120 locations and will have access to a robust supply of high-quality Exide batteries with improved service levels,” Exide stated in a news release.

The transaction closed in the U.S. on March 31, and will close in Canada during the second quarter of the 2019 calendar year.
