GRI Appoints Harris Premaratne As Its Chairman

A veteran banker and architect of innovative banking, Premaratne’s business acumen will support GRI in achieving a leading position among global specialty tire manufacturers, according to the company.

Harris Premaratne has been appointed as GRI’s chairman.

A veteran banker and architect of innovative banking, Premaratne’s business acumen will support GRI in achieving a leading position among global specialty tire manufacturers, according to the company.

Premaratne has more than 40 years of banking experience with commercial banks. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of London. He served as senior deputy general manager of Commercial Bank of Ceylon and as the managing director of Sampath Bank PLC from 2009 to December 2011. He also served as the managing director of Cargills Bank Ltd. from 2012 to December 2014.

Premaratne held the position of chairman of Sri Lanka Banker’s Association. He also served as the deputy chairman of Softlogic Finance PLC and Pan Asia Banking Corp. PLC. Premaratne also is on the board of Softlogic Holdings PLC, Softlogic Capital and is a director of Asiri Hospitals Holdings PLC, Asiri surgical hospital and Asiri Central hospital.

GRI says it considers it an honor to have Premaratne as its esteemed chairman.
