First-Ever BMC And FMSI ‘Brake Weekend’ To Feature Industry Insights From John Washbish And Brent Windom

"The gathering illustrates the dedication and passion brake manufacturers have in working together to promote safe driving and to provide the motoring public with the highest-quality brake products," said Bill Long, AASA president and chief operating officer.

The first-ever “Brake Weekend – The Gathering of Brake Experts,” presented by the Brake Manufacturers Council (BMC), a product council of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), and the Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI), will celebrate the automotive brake industry. Legends within the brake business will gather to be honored and to share their perspectives on the industry, its history and its future. The event is set for Friday, June 1 through Monday, June 4 in Longboat Key, Florida.

“The gathering illustrates the dedication and passion brake manufacturers have in working together to promote safe driving and to provide the motoring public with the highest-quality brake products,” said Bill Long, AASA president and chief operating officer (COO). “A highlight of the event will be the customer spotlight featuring John Washbish, president of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance and a former president of Brake Parts Inc, and Brent Windom, president and COO of Uni-Select Inc., who will share their insights from a distributors point of view.”

The tentative agenda, available here, includes joint meetings of BMC and FMSI members, BMC members-only sessions and a supplier exhibition. BMC Chairman Jack Carney will present a “The State of the BMC” address in the BMC members-only session. The annual FMSI member meeting on Sunday, June 3, will be open to BMC members, except for a brief FMSI members-only session at the end. Activities planned for the weekend also include networking through golf outings and joint association dinners.
