NASTF Announces Presenters For Its Fall General Meeting

Three sessions along with reports on NASTF activity have been planned with a focus on the service repair technician.

The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) will hold its fall general meeting, a featured event of the AAPEX Service Professionals Program in Las Vegas. Three sessions, along with reports on NASTF activity, have been planned, with a focus on the service repair technician.

For the opening session “Changes are Coming to the SAE J1962 DLC,” Robert “Bob” Gruszczynski, VW of America (VWoA) engineer and SAE OBD II panel member, will discuss the 16-pin data link and what’s in store for the future. Since 1996, all new light vehicles in the American marketplace have connected to the outside world with this data port, but with the progress of advanced vehicle technology, change is inevitable.

In addition, Greg Settle of TechForce will be on-hand to talk about TechForce and NASTF’s Road to Great Technician’s initiative. The program intends to assist the industry to coordinate solutions to the long-debated shortage of qualified technicians. TechForce will discuss its contribution to a long-term plan.

‘The most underused OEM Service Info Resource’” session will feature six NASTF OEM members: Navistar, Isuzu, VWoA, Nissan, Honda and Toyota sharing information on their website and tool offerings to help independent technicians become aware of and utilize these available resources,” said NASTF Chairman Steve Douglas, Automotive Alliance. “Our board is very excited to have so many great presentations for our annual fall meeting and webcast. We are really looking forward to hosting service repair professionals at AAPEX and across the country.”

The meeting will take place from 1-4 p.m. PDT in Casanova 606, at the Sands Expo. It does not require registration however, registration and industry credentials are required to attend AAPEX. The session will be recorded and webcast to allow those who cannot make it to AAPEX to watch and participate.
