Bestop Wraps Up Project Pink With American Cancer Society

The company made a $6,234 donation to the American Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research and awareness.

Bestop, a manufacturer of premium Jeep soft tops and accessories, partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) in a campaign to help raise money to save lives from breast cancer. Project Pink launched on Nov. 1, 2016, and ran until July 28.

The Bestop Project Pink campaign offered Jeep owners the opportunity to win one of two customized breast cancer awareness embroidered Bestop Jeep soft tops. When entrants purchased raffle tickets, they entered to win either the Trektop NX for a Jeep Wrangler JK four-door or the Trektop Pro which fits a Jeep Wrangler JK two-door. Tickets could be purchased for $3 each and the full $3 was donated to ACS. In addition, Bestop matched all donations and announced on Facebook that the company made a $6,234 donation to the American Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research and awareness.

“Breast cancer is a fight that many people, women and men, will face one day. We all know a sister, daughter, mother, cousin or friend who has been diagnosed. Here at Bestop, we want to let these fighters know that they are not alone and we have taken the initiative to support them,” said John Larson, Bestop CEO.

The Trektop Pro embroidered soft top was showcased on a special Project Pink Jeep project vehicle displayed in the Bestop booth at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas last November. Both soft tops designed by Bestop’s marketing specialist, Cassie Hughes, have customized pink stitching, the breast cancer awareness ribbon embroidered on the sides and a Project Pink patch above the rear window. The special Project Pink Jeep featured a breast cancer awareness logo, a one-of-a-kind custom vinyl wrap and lighting from Bestop’s sister company, Baja Designs, among other custom enhancements.

“We are grateful for the partnership with Bestop and appreciate their creative approach to supporting our mission. The funds raised through Bestop Project Pink will help fund groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide information and support 24/7, and provide access to mammograms for women who need them across the country. Many breast cancer patients face challenges with transportation and lodging during treatment and the American Cancer Society is able to provide free support through Road to Recovery and our hotel partner program, all thanks to the donations through Project Pink,” said Amanda Seier, senior manager of community development for the Greater Denver Area American Cancer Society.

Following the SEMA Show, Bestop toured the Project Pink Jeep at various events, trail runs and well known events such as King of Hammers and the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. Hughes spread the word about the Project Pink Jeep and campaign across Bestop’s social media. She documented the events and road trips on all social media platforms and announced the winners of the soft tops the same way.

At Bestop, the Project Pink campaign and Jeep were a personal reminder of the battle against cancer for Hughes as she watched her mother fight breast cancer and emerge a survivor. Her mother’s fight inspired her to present the idea of an American Cancer Society fundraising campaign to Bestop.

Upon approval, Hughes dedicated considerable time and passion to the project. She designed the vehicle’s custom vinyl wrap along with Bestop’s graphic designer, Brittany Conrad, and worked with Ink Monstr in Denver to bring the vinyl wrap to fruition. Bestop Jeep JK seat covers in Muddy Girl Total Camo were designed for and added to the project Jeep. Baja Designs donated XL 80 LED lights and JK replacement fog lights, both with pink powder-coated bezels.

The winner of the 4-door Trektop NX Twill was Joshua from De Land, Illinois. The winner of the 2-door Trektop Pro was Shannon from Summerlin, Texas.
