ATMC Announces 2016 National Excellence In Training Award Winners

ATMC named the submission by KPA as the Grand Award winner, with additional awards going to the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium and NAPA Auto Parts.

The Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) has announced the winners of the prestigious 2016 ATMC National Excellence in Training Awards, naming the submission by KPA as the Grand Award winner, with awards also going to the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium and NAPA Auto Parts.

atmc-awardKPA is being honored for its training program titled “Advertising Best Practices,” a unique and informative course designed to educate their primarily dealership clients on the laws and regulations surrounding advertising, helping them to avoid a host of legal liabilities that can result from poor advertising practices. This is KPA’s fourth ATMC award in as many years and its first Grand Award.

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) received the award for the training program “Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training.” Developed in conjunction with the Propane Education Research Council, this program is designed to educate, train and prepare pre- and in-service automobile technicians about the rapidly approaching needs of safely maintaining, diagnosing, repairing and converting propane autogas vehicles. This is the fifth time that NAFTC has been recognized by ATMC with a National Excellence in Training Award.

A Genuine Parts Co. affiliate, NAPA Auto Parts is being recognized by ATMC for the eighth time in recent history for the program “Employee Management Training.” This in-house training program focuses on the legal and ethical aspects of employee management, as well as strategies for improving manager-employee relations, employee performance and employee retention.

Submissions for the awards are judged by a panel of peers on how the program addresses several critical components that comprise a well-structured training program. Judges individually rate each program on conducting a needs analysis, establishing learning objectives, developing program elements and materials, delivery of the content and assessment of the effectiveness of the training. A mean average of all the judges’ scores is used to determine the winners.

The winners of the award will be honored during the annual ATMC reception held during Industry Week, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, in the Casanova Rooms, 603-604. All with an interest in training are welcome to attend.
