‘Garage Gurus’ Automotive Training Center Opens In Dallas

Area technicians, shop owners and other professionals tour the new, state-of-the-art regional training facility near Love Field.

Garage Gurus - LogoProfessional automotive repair professionals from across the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex attended on July 17 the grand opening of the “Garage Gurus” regional training facility near Love Field. The training center is part of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ new nationwide technical training network established to help front-line industry professionals keep pace with the latest automotive technologies. The Dallas/Fort Worth training center will offer on-site, online and on-demand training and related support to technicians, shop owners, service writers and others from among the region’s more than 5,100 repair businesses.

A division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp., Federal-Mogul Motorparts manufactures and supplies a broad portfolio of popular replacement products – including ANCO wiper blades, Champion spark plugs, Fel-Pro gaskets, MOOG steering and suspension components, Sealed Power engine parts and Wagner and Ferodo brake products – that are specified and installed in thousands of U.S. repair businesses each day.

“Garage Gurus represents an entirely new approach to technical training and support of the talented professionals who help keep millions of consumers safe behind the wheel,” said Dan Ninivaggi, CEO, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “Each new generation of vehicles introduces distinct diagnostic and repair requirements that must be mastered by the front-line technician. Garage Gurus will help keep these business partners on the leading edge of technology so they can continue to provide superior service to all customers.”

Accessing critical diagnostic and repair information and related skills-based training has long been a challenge for the nation’s nearly 220,000 automotive repair businesses. Garage Gurus aims to answer this need through the more than 100 on-site, online and on-demand courses taught by Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ 100-plus ASE-certified “Gurus.” Each course is offered in English and Spanish languages.

Area technicians, shop owners and others got a first-hand look at the modern diagnostic equipment and other resources available in the new training center, located at 10390 Shady Trail in Dallas. They also inspected two of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans, which travel among regional repair shops, providing technicians with problem-solving solutions, technical assistance and local training.

The new training center is the sixth of up to 15 Garage Gurus locations scheduled to open this year. The training network is already operating in Atlanta; Baltimore; Chicago; the Bronx, N.Y.; and Van Nuys, Calif. An additional training center in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., also was scheduled to open this past weekend.
