Congressman Johnson To Speak At MEMA Legislative Summit

capitalRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Ohio) is confirmed to speak at a reception taking place April 15 during MEMA’s Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.

Congressman Johnson sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees the auto industry. Prior to being elected to Congress in 2010, Johnson worked for Stoneridge Inc., a member of MEMA divisions AASA, HDMA and OESA. Stoneridge designs and manufactures highly engineered electrical and electronic components, modules and systems for the commercial vehicle, automotive, off-highway and agricultural vehicle markets.

The Summit also will include a keynote address from Haley Barbour, former governor of Mississippi, former chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association and former chairman of the Republican National Committee. Former U.S. Sens. George Allen and Blanche Lincoln, co-chairs of the Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), will lead a panel discussion on regulatory reform and manufacturing competitiveness.

In addition, senior officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will participate in a panel discussion entitled “Ask NHSTA,” which will be an opportunity to hear from senior NHTSA officials about their key issues and field questions from MEMA members. Industry executives Rich Ferguson of Volvo Truck Group, Ron Muetzel of ZF Sales and Services and Jeremy McClain of Continental Automotive Systems will lead a panel on the impact of advanced and emerging technologies on the automotive industry.
