NASTF Board Elects New Members

ST. JOHNS, Fla. – The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) has announced several new board appointments. Five of the board’s fifteen three-year director terms were up for election to the 2015 NASTF leadership. Three current volunteers were re-elected and two new members were elected.

John Cabaniss, representing the OEM trade association, Global Automakers, was one of the three re-elected, however, his Jan. 3 resignation, in accordance with the organization bylaws, required the NASTF board to appoint a replacement to serve his new three-year term. Julia Rege, director of environment and energy for the Association of Global Automakers was appointed to replace Cabaniss in the open seat for the OEM category.

Greg Potter, newly hired executive manager of the Equipment & Tool Institute (ETI), was elected to fill the vacancy in the Equipment/Tool category and Jim Von Ehr, manager of technical information and serviceability for Nissan, was elected to the vacant at-large seat.

Re-elected to new three-year terms were Allen Pennebaker, owner of Orinda Motors; and John Lypen, director of industry relations for Motor Information Systems. Pennebaker represents the Automotive Service Councils of California in the NASTF category for an independent service provider. Lypen holds the board seat for the information service provider category.

Directors continuing with unexpired terms include Scott Brown (iATN), Steve Douglas (Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers), Chris Chesney (CARQUEST), Doug Greenhaus (NADA), Claude Hensley (Lockman Locksmiths), Bill Long (AASA), Bill Moss (Euro Service Automotive), Mark Saxonberg (Toyota Motor Sales USA), Kathleen Schmatz (Auto Care) and Donny Seyfer (Seyfer Automotive).

In addition, current NASTF officers were re-elected to another one-year term for 2015. Allen Pennebaker continues as NASTF chair of the board, Steve Douglas as vice-chair and John Lypen as treasurer/secretary. Charlie Gorman, who has retired as the ETI executive manager, will continue in a non-voting position as the immediate past chair of NASTF.
