Pittsburgh Glass Works To Establish Joint Venture, Build New Auto Glass Manufacturing Facility In China

The site is located in Shandong Province near Jinan, which is a high technology manufacturing center, offering an educated workforce, easy transportation access and close proximity to customers.

PITTSBURGH – Global automotive glass supplier Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW) LLC, and its joint venture partner Jinjing, China, will build a new, state-of-the-art automotive glass manufacturing facility utilizing existing float glass capacity in Zibo, China, to serve automotive OEM customers in China. The site is located in Shandong Province near Jinan, which is a high technology manufacturing center, offering an educated workforce, easy transportation access and close proximity to customers.
 
The new manufacturing facility, along with embedded product development and customer support center, will extend PGW’s global reach to help serve the needs of global car producers in the important China market. Groundbreaking is planned for mid-February 2014, with production expected to begin in mid-2015.
 
When fully operational, the new facility will have capacity for 2 million car-sets and will employ more than 350 workers.
