Eaton’s Tom Stover Named Vice President-Commercial Vehicle For SAE International

Stover became an SAE member in 1992 and has championed several joint programs between Eaton and the prestigious association in recent years, including the long-running Supermileage fuel efficiency competition held at the Vehicle Group's Proving Grounds in Marshall, Mich.

GALESBURG, Mich. – Eaton has announced that Tom Stover, chief technology officer for the company’s vehicle operations, has been appointed to a three-year term as vice president-commercial vehicle for SAE International, starting Jan. 7, 2014. With more than 138,000 members across the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle industries, SAE encourages a lifetime of learning for mobility engineering professionals and helps set new engineering standards.
 
“Participation in groups such as SAE allows engineers to collaborate with peers, keep pace with new tools and technology trends, improve their knowledge and skills and develop leadership capabilities. SAE’s mission aligns perfectly with our own objectives to foster a learning culture within Eaton’s engineering community.”
 
Stover will provide leadership and continuity for the engineering organization’s commercial vehicle initiatives and for ensuring that industry needs are integrated into SAE’s standards, events and educational programs. Stover became an SAE member in 1992 and has championed several joint programs between Eaton and the prestigious association in recent years, including the long-running Supermileage fuel efficiency competition held at the Vehicle Group’s Proving Grounds in Marshall, Mich.

Stover joined Eaton in 2002 as engineering manager of truck technology, responsible for leading the development of advanced transmission concepts, powertrain integration, emission control systems and hybrid-electric technologies. He was named to his current position in March 2007, with responsibility for technology, innovation and engineering excellence for the Vehicle Group worldwide.
 
Prior to joining Eaton, Stover worked for Cummins Engine Co. from 1977 to 2002.
