Ninety-five percent of shops that participated in Counterman magazine’s 2012 Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (PARTS) report that they change oil and air filters frequently, and having plenty in stock is important.
Oil and filters are neck and neck with oil itself as one of the jobs most performed each month in the shops at a median of 30jobs per month. Trust beats out all other criteria (price, availability, source recommendation) for how technicians choose a particular brand. And, as the chart below shows, jobbers are by far the No. 1 choice as a shop’s first call for oil and air filters.
