CLOVER, S.C. Derek Daly, founder of the Derek Daly Academy (DDA), and Don Burgoon, president of Performance Friction Brakes, have announced a joint presentation taking place at the 2011 Performance Racing Industry Show (PRI) being held in Orlando, Fla., today through Dec. 3. Daly will present his career development program titled “What If It’s You!” to all the young racers and their families in attendance. Performance Friction Brakes, already a part of the Road to Indy Program, says it is excited to partner with DDA and support the career development of upcoming racers.
“I’m energized to be presenting our “What If It’s You!” seminar at PRI with the support of Performance Friction,” said Daly. “Parents make so many emotional decisions when it comes to their kids and racing. Our program brings together a very clear understanding of how a career is developed not just a fast driver.”
During the seminar, DDA will unveil its new financial plan matrix in addition to clearly demonstrating how specific career development steps take drivers through the DDA X Factor model.
The “What If It’s You!” seminar will take place on Friday, Dec. 2 from 3:15 5 p.m. off the main concourse of the Orlando Convention Center in Room S230D. The seminar is open to all racers, managers, team managers, engineers and all parents. For those attending, there will be free gifts, including copies of Derek’s book, Race to Win: How to Become the Complete Champion. Autographs will take place immediately after the seminar at the Performance Friction Brakes booth.
"Performance Friction is proud to support the Derek Daly Academy “What If It’s You!” Seminar at PRI," said Burgoon. "Developing the careers of upcoming racers is important for Performance Friction as seen in our support of several junior series. What DDA has put together might very well be a game-changer for many young racers as they look to cement a career in motor racing. There is nothing more gratifying than watching the development of a racer. It is a garnered responsibility to support them.”
In 2008 Daly published his first book, "Race to Win: How to Become the CompleteChampion." The book outlines Daly’s groundbreaking Champions Pyramid and introduces the concept of specific Talent Identification to the motorsports world. The foreword for this book was written by racing legend and longtime friend Mario Andretti, who went on to say: “Derek’s book teaches the lessons it took guys like me years to learn. Quite honestly, I believe the advice in this book resonates far beyond the racing industry.”
DDA is in the business of developing motorsports athletes through a unique system of vision alignment, driver profiling, environment management, financial planning and marketing development. This system, along with the Champions Pyramid, forms the structure that leads to the development of what is called the Complete Champion.
