Fresh out of high school and desperate for a regular income, Tracey Hill started her career in the aftermarket as a parts driver 40 years ago, and never looked back. She was able to advance over the years by accepting challenges that many would not pursue at that time, noting that she is “pleased to see so many women in the industry now.”
Hill’s best advice for other women is to realize your passion and run with it. “Take on new positions to challenge yourself to be a well-rounded automotive professional.” Along her journey, Hill says she was very fortunate to have some of the best mentors in the business, who provided her with opportunities in progressively more responsible positions where she worked very hard to succeed. Hill also advises to always ask questions, reach out to your peers, and think outside the box. “Maintaining an open mind and accepting change as an opportunity to excel will help you continue to grow,” she says.
