“I am like many people who fell into the wonderful world of the aftermarket,” expresses Misty Rohder, as she traces her 13-year career path that started out as a delivery driver to now a district sales manager, where she manages over 20 sales members and a $90-million-dollar territory for Auto-Wares. Noting this award ranks among her proudest accomplishments, Rohder says: “I take pride in being a woman in the aftermarket, and to be recognized for doing what I love is just an amazing feeling.”
Her biggest advice for other women in the aftermarket is to remember to use your voice. “The marketplace has changed. It’s not just men taking care of the family vehicle anymore. We have different thoughts on how to make the experience better for women in all aspects of the vehicle,” Rohder says.
“I think we need to get girls engaged in the aftermarket at a younger age,” adds Rohder, who participates every year in mock interviews conducted at the Wilson Talent Center as a way to mentor and coach young women. “We see such a push to get boys involved in trades at school, and I want to see an equal push for girls,” she advises.
