Kellye Wicker has not been with Valvoline Global Operations long, about two years in fact. However, that did not stop her from jumping into action and creating change that has positively benefited many in her company. Both at Valvoline and her prior place of employment Wicker helped establish a women’s network group and it’s one of the things she’s most proud of, she says.
Wicker didn’t just simply form a networking group though. She took it one step further. Last year, during International Women’s History Month, the group hosted a panel discussion featuring women in the aftermarket from Latin America and North America, moderated by a local PBS journalist Renee Shaw. “Launching a women’s network group that I’m actually the chairperson for in the Lexington community here at Valvoline Global – that’s definitely proudest moment.”
When it comes to her best advice for other women who want to succeed in this industry, Wicker says, “just be your best authentic self.”
“I think there’s already an advantage, right? Being a woman in this industry, there’s not many of us. So, you’re already standing out,” she says.
