How did you begin your career in the aftermarket?

My career began a little over five years ago. I’d spent the previous 12 years working for an agricultural and industrial manufacturer. I saw an opportunity to jump into the aftermarket industry with a company with a rich, nearly 100-year-old legacy and history of service. I’ve been with Arnold Motor Supply ever since.

What is your best advice to other women who want to excel in the automotive aftermarket?

There’s no shortage of people in this industry willing to help you learn and succeed. Whether you’re new to the industry or more experienced, find a mentor that will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and grow.

How do you build up your confidence to prepare for challenging professional situations?

Always having two or three backup plans so I can easily shift not matter the situation! But also, not being afraid to lean on those around me and draw from their expertise and support.

What do you believe are some of the most important skillsets to excel in a career in the aftermarket today?

Agility and resilience. This means always learning, looking for better ways of doing things (and trying them even if you fail) and being prepared for what’s next. Commitment to keeping it “real.” Don’t send an email when you can pick up the phone or make a personal visit. Relationships are what still drives this industry, especially in the face of constant change.
