Cindy Schulz’s career in the automotive aftermarket has been a remarkable journey. It began in 1979 when she walked into a Wisconsin auto parts store and applied for a job as a delivery driver. “Back in the day, so many people told me, ‘You can’t do this because you’re a woman,’” Schulz recalls. That kind of rhetoric inspired her to “learn more and move ahead” in her career.
“My proudest accomplishment would be – somehow, by the grace of God, and as the mother of three daughters and being a wife – working my way up from being a driver to the counter to outside sales to executive assistant to vice president to becoming the CEO/president of three Bumper to Bumper parts stores,” Schulz says. In 2016, Schulz sold the stores to Auto-Wares, and today is the company’s Wisconsin sales manager. “For today’s young women [in the aftermarket], I think the journey won’t take as long,” Schulz concludes. “The glass ceiling is at your feet now.”
