Christie Wilmer joined Old World Industries (OWI) as chief sales officer in January 2022, after 25 years in the consumer-products space. She came to the automotive aftermarket with an impressive resume that includes previous sales-leadership roles at Kellogg and PepsiCo.
“I was really excited about the opportunity to lead our sales organization,” Wilmer says of OWI. “ … It’s been wonderful.”
Her advice to other women in the aftermarket: “Don’t be afraid to learn about something that’s not necessarily in your comfort zone.” To be successful in the aftermarket, you don’t have to be an automotive expert. “Working in the aftermarket is about the people, and having a positive impact on our customers’ businesses and our businesses internally,” Wilmer says.
She credits Women in Auto Care for helping her feel at home in the aftermarket. “I’ve found that to be a comforting space and a great way to learn about the industry.”
