First impressions are important. When most people visit or call Federated’s headquarters in Staunton, Virginia, their first point of contact is Cathy Ramsey. “Her knowledge of the organization and where to direct calls and inquiries not only saves the caller needless wasted efforts, but also helps Federated look more professional to all of our constituents,” Federated President Sue Godschalk says of Ramsey.
Ramsey joined Federated in 1990. Over the years, her responsibilities have included answering phones, various types of accounting, EDI support and customer-service support for Federated members. Currently, Ramsey is in charge of accounts payable. “The truth is, her contributions are just as important as those of the president or CEO in making things run smoothly and ensuring our members and their customers are able to make the most of what we offer,” Godschalk says. Ramsey’s advice to women in the aftermarket is to “work hard, take advantage of every opportunity that becomes available and find a mentor who can offer advice, listen to ideas and share thoughts.”
