2023 Women at the Wheel: Cara Mitchell

2023 Honoree

Cara Mitchell

Associate Director of Marketing, OCI
BBB Industries

Cara Mitchell began laying the foundation for her career when she was a freshman in high school. Given the opportunity to take a class at a vocational center through the Omaha Public Schools, Mitchell enrolled in Automotive Technology. “I really enjoyed fixing cars and working under the hood, and this formalized my training,” she says.

By the age of 16, Mitchell was working as a parts specialist at an O’Reilly Auto Parts store, and she transferred to another O’Reilly store in Alabama while she was in college. Since 2017, Mitchell has been at BBB Industries, where her proudest moment so far was spearheading the launch of BBB’s OE-TurboPower turbocharger line. She credits the Young Automotive Networking Group (YANG) for providing a space for women and those under 40 to network and grow in this historically male-dominated industry. “The aftermarket is great industry to work in,” Mitchell says. “Once you’re in, you’re in it forever. The family feel of this industry is what makes it so enjoyable to work in this field.”
