LEXINGTON, KY – Valvoline and Eaton Corp.’s Hydraulics Operations have introduced a new premium hydraulic fluid, the first anti-wear, high-performance hydraulic fluid designed by a major manufacturer of hydraulic systems and equipment.

Valvoline and Eaton’s Premium Hydraulic Fluid is a premium blend of additives blended with a base stock of selected mineral oils that is intended primarily for industrial applications. The benefits of using Valvoline and Eaton’s Premium Hydraulic Fluid include extended wear protection, longer equipment life and extended service intervals.

“Helping our customers be more successful through premium products and services has always been at the core of our strategy,” said Craig Moughler, senior vice president of international channel development for the Valvoline division of Ashland Inc. “Partnering with Eaton’s Hydraulic Operations gives us an edge in developing more specialized products for the industrial sector. Eaton’s position in the marketplace and their experience in systems – combined with Valvoline’s lubricant technology, marketing, blending and distribution capabilities – give both of us a competitive advantage in serving a growing global customer base.”

“Reliability in hydraulic systems begins with quality oil,” said Doug Jahnke, Eaton product marketing manager, filtration and fluids. “Eaton builds hydraulic components and systems, so we have a serious interest in providing customers with the best possible oil to use in them. We have worked with oil companies over the years to help them improve their products, and decided that it was time to put our knowledge to work with a product of our own.

“We created and performed extensive testing on a robust, zinc-containing additive package partnering with Valvoline to provide marketing, blending and product distribution support through their extensive network. This technology is the result of a co-marketing partnership that was developed over the past three years as the product went through rigorous testing by Eaton with our own hydraulic components, including the Vickers 35VQ25 pump test specification, hose testing with various compounds used in Aeroquip and Weatherhead hydraulic hose assemblies and significant additional laboratory testing.

“The decision to use a standard base stock rather than an expensive synthetic base was made early on in the development process,” Jahnke noted, “because a standard base will provide all of the performance required in all standard industrial applications – as long as it is blended with the right additive package. Valvoline and Eaton’s Premium Hydraulic Fluid delivers peak performance at a very competitive price, and it will maximize the service life of the equipment it’s used in as well.”

Valvoline and Eaton’s Premium Hydraulic Fluid is produced in ISO 32, ISO 46, and ISO 68 viscosities. It is available through the Eaton distribution channel in North America.
