From Tire Review
Trelleborg Wheel Systems (TWS) is cutting production at its Hartville, OH, tire plant, shifting the production of industrial tires to its plant in Sri Lanka.
Trelleborg said the move will cost the company about $19 million over a three-year period.
“By doing this, we are creating the conditions for a strong global production structure in Wheel Systems,” said TWS president Maurizio Vischi. “This enables us to remain competitive and grow the business organically. The measures will improve our profitability and position in the North American market, where we are currently also building an efficient sales and distribution organization.”
TWS said the move should be completed in 2008, but that industrial tire production at its U.S. plant will continue into 2009.
The Hartville plant is also TWS’ U.S. headquarters.
