CANTON, Ohio — Timken is expanding its line of wheel seals and installation tools for the heavy-duty truck aftermarket. When announcing the line expansion this week, Timken said it is dedicated to delivering increased uptime and reliability to the heavy-duty truck aftermarket.
The Outrunner line of products is sourced from a leading manufacturer and sold under the Timken brand. The products, which complement the company’s existing product line, offers a premium wheel seal designed to meet the performance demands of low-maintenance wheel ends.
“These seals offer a high-quality product that aligns well with our dedication to bringing customers solutions that reduce friction and maximize uptime to keep their trucks on the road,” said Tom Tecklenburg – director – automotive and heavy-duty aftermarket. “Timken already offers a wide range of products to the aftermarket that help deliver optimum friction management, and these Outrunner products are another strong addition.”
Two designs of this seal are available from Timken, the Outrunner Standard and the Outrunner PH (Performance Hybrid). The design of both variations promotes ease of installation and reduction of friction, according to Timken. Other features include an interlock design that provides enhanced dust- and leak-prohibiting protection, which lengthens bearing uptime and extends maintenance intervals.
The Outrunner PH seal features a hybrid metal and rubber outside diameter designed to reduces installation problems. The improved installation is achieved because the rubber in the hybrid compensates for minor bore imperfections and helps eliminate seal misalignment. With improved installation, end users can perform maintenance quicker and get trucks back on the road faster, said the company.
The Outrunner PH also utilizes an exclusionary interlock labyrinth seal design that lowers torque and heat generation to promote longer seal life and potential fuel economy.
Users of the Outrunner seals also can benefit from reduced inventory stocking as the seal lip material is compatible with mineral, synthetic and semi-fluid greases.
To further increase the ease of installation for end users, Timken also offers seal installation tools, which are engineered for Outrunner to help position and properly seat the seals. Outrunner is a registered trademark of Freudenberg-NOK.
