The most highly read news story this week on aftermarketNews (AMN) was the announcement of Forecast Products’ new Vice President of Sales, Gary Allen. Almost every week, readers show interest in personnel announcements like this one, proving that “who’s who” in the automotive industry is important.

In other announcements, IWD/Auto Pride added three new members to its group. AMN readers were interested to hear about these new additions: Clark ’s Discount Auto Parts in Bellflower, CA , Russ Parts in Staten Island, NY, and Van Senus Auto Parts in Highland, IN.

Getting back to the hot topic of personnel news, the announcement of Affinia’s Under Vehicle Group’s new Vice President of Brand Marketing, Josh Russell, generated a lot of reader attention. “Josh has a proven track record in all aspects of brand marketing and management at the highest levels, from strategy development and integrated communications to category management and promotions,” Jeff Stauffer, senior vice president of Global Group Marketing for Affinia said. Russell will be responsible for brand strategy and marketing support in the U.S., Mexico and Canada .

Speaking of marketing in other countries, Counterman Publisher Jon Owens’ column, “Made in China,” got a lot of reader attention this week. And it’s no wonder because China has been in the hot seat in recent months because of numerous product recalls. The shortlist of problems includes tainted toothpaste, bad seafood, toxic pet food, leaded paint in children’s toys and, most recently, tires.

And finally, coming in at number five of the top stories this week was yet another personnel announcement. ROL Manufacturing of America hired Marty Novil as new Director of Technology, Sealing Products. Novil will be responsible for all gasket design, developing aftermarket solutions for troublesome engines and customer engineering support .
