TEQUESTA, Fla. The 22nd edition of the Aftermarket Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament is set to tee off on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Las Vegas Country Club. The event will sport a new moniker this year, but with the same goal of raising money to help the less fortunate in the aftermarket industry.
The tournament was recently renamed the Bob Schoeberl Memorial Golf Tournament, in honor of the longtime industry leader, philanthropist and member of the Aftermarket Foundation Board who founded the tournament and was its most ardent supporter.
Bob Hirsch, president of the Aftermarket Foundation, said, “This celebrity tournament has become not only one of the largest charity fundraising events in the automotive aftermarket, it is one of the cornerstones on which the Aftermarket Foundation has built its awareness program and is one of its core fundraising activities. The event features a virtual ‘Who’s Who’ of all segments of the aftermarket, each of whom are like-minded supporters of the Aftermarket Foundation’s efforts to help those in need.
“Demand for assistance from the Aftermarket Foundation has increased, and we are asking for additional help in our fundraising activities by way of a Tee Sponsorship at our Celebrity Tournament," Hirsch added. "For a modest amount, a Tee Sponsor will get their company name in front of more than 150 of the most influential aftermarket leaders, from manufacturing, distributions and retail, across traditional lines and the specialty markets. Not only is it an opportunity for a company to get seen, it is an opportunity to demonstrate that your company is one that cares about ‘taking care of our own’ and shares and supports the values of those who participate in this tournament."
The tournament has featured a wide number of celebrities in the past, including the famous Arnold Palmer, who served as Celebrity Golf Pro for many years. Members of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), who also are staunch supporters of the Aftermarket Foundation, have lent their time to the event, including Johnny Gray, Ron Capps and legendary funny car pioneer Don Schumacher.
This year, the Bob Schoeberl Memorial Golf Tournament will feature PGA Pro Bruce Fleisher, who will run a clinic for the tournament golfers. Fleisher has finished first on the Champions Tour 18 times, and ranks fifth in Champions Career Money Leaders on the tour.
