Tenneco’s Monroe Brakes Product Line Sees Double-Digit Sales Growth in 2009

Introduced in 2005, Monroe brake pads and shoes are available through hundreds of distributor and jobber locations across the United States.

LAS VEGAS — The Monroe Brakes line of brake pads and shoes from Tenneco Inc. has reached new sales records in 2009, according to the company, with double-digit growth and an ever-expanding network of distributors and service dealers that now offer this proven repair solution.

Introduced in 2005, Monroe brake pads and shoes are available through hundreds of distributor and jobber locations across the United States. Tenneco has helped drive this success through continued investments in new late-model coverage and a variety of innovative and creative promotions for distribution professionals, repair shop owners, technicians and consumers.

“Monroe Brakes entered a very crowded and competitive market four years ago, and we have exceeded the expectations of customers. As a result, we are adding new service dealers almost every day,” said Tony Carter, marketing manager, Monroe Brakes, Tenneco. “This fact speaks not only to our coverage and marketing efforts, but also to exceptional product performance. Monroe brake pads and shoes are helping shops reduce comebacks related to braking noise and wear issues, and our innovative product strategy is simplifying the installation process since technicians don’t need to search for extra parts.”

The Monroe Brakes product line includes Monroe Dynamics semi-metallic pads, Monroe Ceramics ceramic-formula pads and a full complement of Monroe brake shoes for rear-wheel coverage. Monroe Brakes come complete with noise elimination clips, hardware, moly-based lubricant and electronic wire wear sensors (where needed) to help shops do the job right the first time and complete more brake repairs each day.

“Opening the box and having the parts you need to complete the job is a huge benefit for the installer,” Carter said. “Ordering those extra parts separately or having to search your shop to find missing parts can be very expensive in terms of lost productivity. By relying on Monroe, you can quickly finish the repair and move on to the next one.”

Each set of Monroe brake pads features an OE-style friction formulation carefully matched to the vehicle’s braking requirements. In addition, all Monroe brake pads include OE-design and aftermarket-enhanced slots and chamfers, as required, helping substantially reduce brake noise. Monroe shoes are also application engineered to match OE specifications, which ensures excellent vehicle stopping power. They are manufactured from 100-percent new carbon steel – not recycled steel cores – which helps ensure durable performance, said the company.
