Ten Telematics Scholarships Awarded For 2014

The scholarships are awarded in the name of the winner of the Aftermarket Telematics Challenge, a competition organized by the Auto Care Association to recognize the leading example of telematics technology that serves to protect the consumer's right to choose the independent auto care industry for their maintenance and repair needs.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The Auto Care Association has awarded scholarships to 10 students planning careers in automotive technology and telematics through the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) Scholarship Committee.
 
The award winners, listed below, each received a $1,000 scholarship award:
 
* Alex Adkins of Beckley, W.Va.
* Skyler Badertscher of Athol, Idaho
* Jesse Brian, Olney, Ill.
* Lane Guanciale of Baldwinsville, N.Y.
* Laura Fincher of Sterling, Colo.
* Joseph Lasher of West Harrison, N.Y.
* Austin Ormond of Kennedy, N.Y.
* Kendall Riecken of Fort Wayne, Ind.
* Umair Shah of Wheaton, Ill.
* Zackary Stewart of Butte, Mont.
 
“Advanced technologies are shaping the future of the auto care industry,” said Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO, Auto Care Association. “We are proud to support these students as they pursue their education in automotive technology and prepare to lead the industry.”
 
The scholarships are awarded in the name of the winner of the Aftermarket Telematics Challenge, a competition organized by the Auto Care Association to recognize the leading example of telematics technology that serves to protect the consumer’s right to choose the independent auto care industry for their maintenance and repair needs. The winner of the Telematics Challenge in 2013 was Verizon Telematics for their In-Drive system.
