Sylvania Launches New Headlight Restoration Kit

The all-new Headlight Restoration Kit from Osram Sylvania was designed to remove thousands of miles of damage and restore headlight lenses to provide durable and like-new performance in light output, thereby improving driver visibility and safety.

HILLSBORO, N.H. – Over time, harsh UV rays, chemicals and environmental pollutants can take a toll on vehicles equipped with plastic headlight lenses, which can result in hazy, cloudy and unsafe lights during nighttime driving. According to Osram Sylvania, these environmentally damaged headlights can play a role in serious vehicle accidents, and research shows it can significantly reduce the emission of light.

The all-new Headlight Restoration Kit from Osram Sylvania was designed to remove thousands of miles of damage and restore headlight lenses to provide durable and like-new performance in light output, thereby improving driver visibility and safety.

“Today’s drivers are keeping their vehicles longer and will likely notice a gradual decline in their nighttime driving visibility; however, many are unaware of how unsafe it can be for them and other drivers on the road,” said Joe Verbanic, marketing manager for SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting. “Restoring headlights is a quick and easy fix to a potentially dangerous problem. Plus it only costs about $25 to restore them, whereas replacing them can cost upwards of $300.”

There are currently more than 150 million vehicles on the road today that feature plastic lenses that are five years or older. Most likely, they are already showing visible signs of weathering and hazing, resulting in reduced vision for the driver and a potentially serious distraction for oncoming traffic, says Osram Sylvania.

“This was a huge concern for consumers that we spoke with prior to launching the product,” said Verbanic. “Most did not know that driving with hazy headlights could have such an impact on their visibility or create glare for oncoming traffic on the road. It was a real eye opener.”

The Headlight Restoration Kit from SYLVANIA restores clarity and removes the hazy yellow appearance on headlight lenses, plus it provides a UV Block Clear Coat, which protects headlights from UV rays, the No. 1 reason headlights become dangerous. After use, motorists should see a significant improvement as the product enables up to three times more light to shine on the road, the company claims.

Other product benefits:
• Up to 70 percent glare reduction;
• Long lasting results compared to competitive products;
• Can be used on brake lights, or boat/motorcycle headlights; and
• Does not require any tools; everything is provided in the kit, including the surface activator, clarifying compound and UV block clear coat.
