Standard Motor Products Enhances 21st Century Tune-Up Program

Standard Motor Products has enhanced its 21St Century Tune-Up program -- a comprehensive systems checklist designed to help re-define and educate motorists as to what a tune-up should consist of on today’s modern vehicles.

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY — Standard Motor Products has enhanced its 21St Century Tune-Up program — a comprehensive systems checklist designed to help re-define and educate motorists as to what a tune-up should consist of on today’s modern vehicles.

The 21st Century Tune-Up consists of a customer interview followed by a series of vehicle inspections. Battery, charging and starting, engine mechanical, powertrain control, fuel, ignition and emissions systems are covered using 17 “Quick Tests.” When any Quick Test indicates problems in a system, the comprehensive 33-point checklist will isolate and confirm the specific issue.

Standard has updated the program’s customer interview and checklist to distinguish between “Quick Test” & “Diagnostic Test,” according to John Nodson, director of marketing.

“We enhanced the 21st Century Tune-Up program to make it as easy and efficient as possible for professional service technicians to verify actual performance of essential vehicle systems against OE levels,” said Nodson. “This allows the technician to give the customer a thorough evaluation of the vehicle’s needs.”

Standard Motor Products supplies independent professional auto technicians and automotive do-it-yourselfers with functional replacement parts for engine management, electrical and climate control systems of cars, trucks and buses.
