LONG ISLAND CITY, NY — Standard Motor Products’ wire and cable factory in Mishawaka, IN, has achieved the ISO/TS 16949:2002 Certification from SGS North America, an internationally accredited certification body and third-party registrar.
Designed to meet the quality requirements of automotive manufacturers worldwide, ISO/TS-16949 is the result of cooperation among members of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), which includes GM, Ford and Daimler Chrysler, and is the single registration to standardize requirements for the American, European and Asian automotive industries.
“This certification demonstrates our commitment to assuring that quality production processes exist throughout our business,” said Gerald Anton, Mishawaka plant manager. “Our certification was accomplished through the involvement of all our employees and supports our goal of total customer satisfaction through continuous improvement.”
The Mishawaka facility is also certified to the Environmental Management System, ISO 14001:2004 standard and the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
“Achieving ISO/TS 16949 Certification was extremely important to us because in order to be a direct supplier to the OE automotive market, you must have TS by year end of 2006,” said Anton. “In addition, it further solidifies the fact that we are committed to providing our customers with products and services that comply with the most stringent industry standards,” concluded Anton.
